OXFORD, Miss. - Sara Schauberger added to the list of post-season awards received by the Ole Miss soccer team when she was named to the GTE Academic All-District Second Team for the 1999-2000 season.
A native of Russellville, Ky., Schauberger has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average while majoring in Marketing during her three years at Ole Miss.
"We are very proud of Sara for receiving this honor. I think this shows how dedicated our players are to excelling off the field as well as on it," Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman said.
A junior in 1999, Schauberger played in 21 of the Rebels' 23 games last season and began the Rebels' march to the finals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament with her game-winning goal against the Tennessee Lady Vols in the first round of the tournament.
The goal against the Lady Vols was the first of Schauberger's career and the only goal scored in the game.
The Ole Miss soccer team concluded the 1999 season with it's first-ever SEC Western Division championship.
Schauberger and the Rebels will continue their spring exhibition season on Saturday, April 1, when they travel to Pensacola, Fla., to take on Florida State and Central Florida.
Ole Miss will play the Seminoles at 10:30 a.m. and the Golden Knights at 7 p.m.
