OXFORD, Miss. - Gulfport, Miss., native Brooke Riley was selected as this year's recipient of the sixth annual Eugenia Conner Memorial Award for her accomplishments on and off the athletic playing field.

The Eugenia Conner Award is presented each year to a junior or senior female student-athlete that exemplifies a true Lady Rebel with character and leadership.

The award was established to honor the memory of the late Eugenia Conner who passed away in 1994. A center on the Lady Rebel basketball team from 1981 to 1985, Conner is the only Lady Rebel to receive First Team All-Southeastern Conference Honors four consecutive years.

A four-year letterwinner on the Ole Miss soccer team, Riley helped lead the Rebels to their first-ever SEC Western Division Championship and a runner-up finish at the SEC Tournament in 1999.

A three-time Academic All-SEC selection, Riley has maintained a 3.81 grade point average in Exercise Science and was selected for Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges and the Mortar Board in 1999.

In addition, Riley has helped raise more than $7,000 for the Domestic Violence Shelter in Oxford as well as doing mission work with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Georgia.

A member of the CHAMPS Life Skills Program and Special Olympics, Riley has volunteered her time to speaking to youths about the importance of self-esteem and reading to Oxford-area elementary school children.

The daughter of Jerry and Judy Riley, Brooke recently earned the SEC Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship. Riley will receive a $5,000 scholarship for her post-graduate studies.
