Ole Miss Women's Golf Stands Ninth After Day One

ROGERS, Ark. - The Ole Miss women's golf team, led by Robyn Rinaldo's 74, is tied for ninth after one round of the Southeastern Conference Championships, held at the Pinnacle Country Club. The Lady Rebels shot 321 in Friday's opening round.

Rinaldo, a senior from Dade City, Fla., carded a 36-38--74 to tie with Auburn's Danielle Downey for third place, just three strokes behind current leader Christina Clausen of Mississippi State. Rinaldo has one top five finish this year and eight for her career, third on the Ole Miss all-time list.

Teresa Brown fired a 39-38--77 and is tied for 11th entering Saturday's second round. Brown, a junior from Windermere, Fla., finished in the top 20 twice this season. Junior Marci Kornegay shot a day one 81 to tie for 35th, while sophomore Elizabeth Hoffman posted an 89. Kerrie Davis opened with a 91.

Auburn is sitting atop the leaderboard after 18 holes with a 306, one stroke ahead of Mississippi State. Defending champion and seventh-ranked Georgia is third with a 311.

Second round play resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday with Vanderbilt, Alabama and Ole Miss teeing off. The final 18 holes of the championships are set for Sunday.
