Oxford, Miss. - Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman announced the hiring of Louis Richard as assistant soccer coach on Wednesday.
Richard, a native of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., is reunited with Holeman after serving as his assistant coach at Auburn in 1993.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Ole Miss family. Steve has done an outstanding job with the soccer program, and I am looking forward to helping continue that success."
Prior to joining the Ole Miss staff, Richard served as the Director of Soccer for the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation Department for five years.
In addition, Richard also worked with the Alabama Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program as the goalkeeper coach for seven years.
Richard served as the goalkeeper's coach for Auburn University's women's soccer team from 1993-99. While serving as an assistant, the Tigers were ranked in the Central Region Top 10 three times and appeared in the Southeastern Conference Tournament five times, including a second place finish in 1994.
The Ole Miss soccer team opens the 2000 season in California against San Diego State on Aug. 25.
