Ole Miss Rifle Sets New Team Standards

OXFORD, Miss.-- The Ole Miss rifle team established new school records for team air rifle score and individual score in defeating TCU Saturday at the University Rifle Range.
The Lady Rebels (1-0-0) posted a 1463/1600 team air rifle total, besting the previous high mark of 1459 from the 1999 Buckeye International. TCU (0-1-0) totaled a 1409.
Katie Trickett fired a 384/400 to break the Ole Miss high individual record of 383. Trickett, a freshman from Woburn, Mass., was shooting in her first collegiate competition.
It's good to start the season with a win, said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. Katie had a great day. I thought we did well, but we can definitely improve.?
Also for the Lady Rebels, Kristin Parker, a freshman from Fort Mill, S.C., shot a 370, while Samantha Ball, a senior from New Albany, Miss., totaled a 356. Sophomore Maranda Stockton finished with a 353, and junior-transfer Misty Ballard, who was competing as an individual, tallied a 340.
Dena Putnam led TCU and finished third with a 367. Michelle Parker shot a 362, and Amber Waska fired a 349. Jennifer Millner had a 331.
Ole Miss is next in action Oct. 14-15, when the Lady Rebels will be hosting the Ole Miss Invitational here at the University Rifle Range.
