OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team plays its home-opener Friday night against Southern Miss at 7 p.m. at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
The Rebels come into the game with a 22 mark, after taking first place in the LSU Invitational last weekend in Baton Rouge. Ole Miss picked up its first win of the season Friday against San Diego State 31, and then took out Texas Tech 1-0 on Sunday, off of Regan Scanlon's gamewinner.
Scanlon finished the weekend with three goals to earn SEC Player of the Week honors. She leads the Rebels in total points (6), goals (3) and shots (16) this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Brittany Gillespie totaled four saves against the Red Raiders in earning her first career shutout. The Modesto, Calif., native boasts a 21 record and a 0.69 goalsagainst average in net for the Rebels this year.
With the team winning the invitational, Kristin Chapman was named Tournament Defensive MVP, and Scanlon and Jennifer Soileau were selected for the AllTournament team.
