Ole Miss Rifle Prepares For Tiger Invitational

OXFORD, Miss.-- After competing at the Southwest Invitational in El Paso, Texas last weekend, the Ole Miss women's rifle team is preparing to participate in the Tiger Invitational in Memphis on Saturday.

Last weekend, the Lady Rebels scored 4391 in smallbore and 1453 in air rifle. Kristin Parker, a freshman from Fort Mill. S.C., and Misty Ballard, a sophomore from Glen, Miss., led the Lady Rebels in smallbore with 1110. Parker also led the Lady Rebels in air rifle with a 370.

"We are looking forward to competing this weekend in Memphis," said Ole Miss rifle coach Valerie Boothe. "The team knows that they did not perform as well as they could in El Paso last weekend. We have had a good week of practice and I feel we are ready to compete this weekend."

Katie Trickett, a freshman from Woburn, Mass., leads the Lady Rebels in both air rifle and smallbore. She is averaging 380.2 in air rifle and 1120.4 in smallbore.

Following this weekend's action, Ole Miss will be back in action on Jan. 26, when they travel to Martin, Tenn., to participate in the UTM Invitaitonal. They will then travel to Murray, Ky., to participate in the Withrow Invitational on Jan. 27.
