OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team picked up two new athletes this weekend with the signing of Sarah Kate Cousart and Laura Evans, head coach Meghan Bolger announced on Tuesday. The two signees are the first for Ole Miss in the fall period.
"We are excited about adding these two young athletes to our program," Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger said. "They are great athletes as well as great additions to our program in the classroom. We have watched them play in several junior golf tournaments and seen their game grow. Adding them to our program will be a big boost to helping us reach our goals as a team."
Cousart, a native of Athens, Ga., attended Oconee High School where she lettered in golf for three years. She has been named to the Athens Banner Herald First Team All-Northeast Georgia team twice. Cousart recorded eight top 10 finishes in 10 tournaments this year, including seven top 5 finishes.
Evans signed with the Lady Rebels out of Dalton High School. The Dalton, Ga., native comes to Ole Miss after posting several top finishes in her high school career. Evans claimed the Class 4A Regional title and finished third in the Georgia Class 4A State Championship after firing a 76. Evans also finished 3rd at the Coca-Cola Classic this past year.
Evans and Cousart will be joining the Lady Rebel program in the fall of 2002.
