MANHATTAN, Kan. - Jason Harrison was fouled with 1.5 seconds left and calmly hit two free throws to help Mississippi edge Kansas State 67-65 on Saturday night.

Mississippi (3-1) thwarted a 17-point Kansas State comeback to win their second of four straight road games. But Harrison, who hit a game-winning 3-pointer to beat Notre Dame in the Midwest Regional last season, almost didn't get his chance to shine.

The Wildcats forced a shot-clock violation to give them a chance at breaking a 65-65 tie with 24.3 seconds left. Kansas State coach Jim Wooldridge called a time out to set up the winning shot for Larry Reid.

Reid missed the shot with 7 seconds left. Harrison got the ball and tried to shoot, but senior forward Travis Reynolds fouled him while trying to knock the ball loose.

Harrison made his free throws, and Pervis Pasco's desperation half-court shot fell short.

Justin Reed scored 14, Harrison and David Sanders scored 13 each and Derrick Allen added 12 for the Rebels.

Reid led the Wildcats (2-1) with 22, and Reynolds added 14.

Kansas State trailed by eleven at halftime, but Larry Reid scored 12 of Kansas State's first 16 points of the second half to spark a 12-1 run. Pasco's two free throws gave Kansas State its first lead since the early minutes.

But Harrison hit a 3-pointer with 9:26 left to put Mississippi in control and set up their second straight win over Kansas State. Mississippi won 60-46 in Oxford, Miss., last season.
