SEATTLE, Wash. - The No. 7 nationally-ranked Ole Miss men?s tennis team dropped its opening round match at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships, 4-2, to No. 6 TCU. The Rebels will face No. 2 Tennessee, who was upset by Oklahoma State, in the second round Friday at the Seattle Tennis Club at 8:00 a.m.
TCU won the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Alex Hartman and James Shortall were the lone winners on the day for the Rebels. Hartman, ranked No. 11 in the nation, defeated 17th-ranked Esteban Carrill in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3, at the top spot. He improves to 16-5 on the year.
Senior James Shortall remained undefeated in dual matches, with his 7-6, 6-3 win over the TCU?s Trace Fielding at No. 2 singles.
