Ole Miss To Open SEC Play At Arkansas

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team is ranked No. 10 in the latest Wingspan.com ITA National Rankings released Wednesday, as the Rebels get set to open Southeastern Conference play Friday, at Arkansas. The match will begin at 6 p.m. Ole Miss enters the match with a 5-2 record. The Rebels are coming off the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor, where they went 1-2. They lost to No. 6 TCU, 4-2 and then to No. 2 Tennessee, 4-2 before defeating San Diego State, 4-3 on Saturday.

Arkansas comes into the match with a 9-1 overall record, 1-1 in the SEC. They dropped a 6-1 decision to Georgia in their SEC opener, and then defeated Vanderbilt, 4-2 Sunday for their first SEC win of the season.

Friday's match will feature two of the top players in the nation at No. 1 singles. Arkansas' Oskar Johansson is currently ranked No. 1 in singles, but he was upset by Vanderbilt's Eddie Coates in their last match. Ole Miss' Alex Hartman is ranked No. 11 in singles and comes in with a 17-6 record.

Ole Miss defeated Arkansas, 4-0 last year in Oxford and won a narrow 4-3 match two years ago in Fayetteville. Friday's match will be played indoors.
