Rahim Lockhart Named to NABC All-District 6 First Team

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Rahim Lockhart, a senior on the Ole Miss Rebel basketball team, has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Chevrolet All-District 6 first team, which was announced Friday. The honor is Lockhart's first postseason award of his career.
Lockhart was joined on the NABC All-District 6 first team by Alabama's Rod Grizzard, Florida's Udonis Haslem and Brett Nelson and Georgia's D.A. Layne. The district's second team consisted of South Florida's Altron Jackson, Georgia State's Shenard Long, Alabama's Erwin Dudley, Auburn's Marquis Daniels and Miami's Darius Rice.
"Rahim is very deserving of this honor," said Ole Miss head coach Rod Barnes. "He has worked hard to become one of the best post players in the Southeastern Conference and the country, and it's great to see other coaches recognize what Rahim has done and reward him for that."
Lockhart leads the Rebels in scoring (12.9 ppg), rebounding (8.3 rpg), field goal percentage (.570), blocked shots (43) and steals (44). He is also ranked among the conference's leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, blocked shots and steals. Earlier this season, Lockhart was named to the SEC Good Works Team for the second straight year.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the honored student-athletes represent the finest basketball players from across the country. The 150 players (10 players from the 15 districts) are now eligible for selection to the NABC/Chevrolet Division I All-America National Team, which will be announced at the conclusion of the season.
The Rebels (22-6, 10-5 SEC) host Alabama (20-8, 8-7 SEC) Saturday at Tad Smith Coliseum in the regular-season finale for both teams. The game, which will be televised by Jefferson Pilot, is scheduled for a 3:07 p.m. (CT) tip.
"Senior Day" ceremonies will be held prior to the game at approximately 2:37 p.m. (CT).
