Soccer Rebels Win Final Spring Tournament

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team posted a perfect 5-0 record to win last weekend's Ole Miss 7 A-side Tournament. Other teams participating in the event included Alabama, Mississippi State, UAB and Memphis, among others.
The two-time defending SEC West Champion Rebels, who finished the spring with a 12-1-1 mark, were led on the weekend by Bridget Brooks with seven goals. The sophomore forward scored in four of the five games, including two against Louisiana-Monroe.
Courtney Biddle guided Ole Miss past Memphis with two goals, and finished the weekend with five scores. Michaela Collins netted four goals in the tourney, including three against Tulane.
Also connecting on UM goals was Jennifer Gibson and Kristin Chapman with three, Erin Cooper and Amy Sample with two, and Megan Bowman and Anna Sanders with one apiece.
"Overall we had a very successful and productive spring season," said Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman. "I feel that we did a great job of accomplishing our spring goals and will take this momentum into the fall season."
In addition, it was announced that the Rebel soccer team's fall GPA of 3.568 is No. 1 among all 271 NCAA Division I women's soccer programs. Ole Miss placed 12 student-athletes on the Chancellor's Honor Roll in the fall and had 10 named to the 2000 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
