OXFORD, Miss. - Tickets for the men's tennis 2001 NCAA Championship first and second round matches hosted by Ole Miss Saturday and Sunday are on sale at the ticket office. Fans can purchase a weekend pass for $10 or tickets are $5 per match.

"Two years ago when we hosted a regional we had a capacity crowd, and we are looking for the same this year," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "When the NCAA awards a bid, attendance and fan interest are important factors in their decision-making. This is going to be an exciting weekend with graduation and Mississippi State here in baseball. We encourage fans to come out and support the Rebels and see some great college tennis."

The Rebels will meet Jackson State, the SWAC Champions, at Noon on Saturday in the first match, followed by the third seed, Virginia against the second seed, Southern Cal at 3:00 p.m. The winners of Saturday's matches will play at Noon Sunday for the right to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Athens, Ga.

Ole Miss comes into the NCAA Championships ranked No. 9 in the nation and seeded No. 1 in the regional. The Rebels had three players named to the All-SEC team, Alex Hartman, James Shortall and Kristofer Stahlberg. Virginia boast one of the top players in the nation, All-American Brian Vahaly. Southern Cal won back-to-back NCAA titles in 1993 and 1994 and features the 2001 PAC-10 singles champion, Ryan Moore.

To purchase tickets fans can call (662) 915-7167 or toll-free 1-888-732-8587. The ticket office is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Tickets will also be sold at the gate in front of the tennis center on the day of the matches.
