OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's soccer and volleyball teams got together Saturday and held a carwash at Danver's, to raise money for the victims and families of last Tuesday's terrorist attacks on America.

Steve Holeman, head soccer coach, said when both team's games were canceled, the girls came up with the idea to help.

"We want to do everything we can to help to the victims and their families in this great time of need," Holeman said. Added junior soccer player Courtney Biddle. "What happened this last week is terrible. Since we couldn't be there to help, we hope this little bit of money will make a difference."

The teams held the carwash from 2-6 p.m. and raised about $3,300, which will be split between the Red Cross and the Disaster Relief Fund.

"This is just one of those things where everyone wants to help out," volleyball coach John Blair said. Senior Jaime Burns said, "This is something we can do together for people who lost their family. We care about them and want to do our part to help them."

Both soccer and volleyball will be at the University of Memphis Monday night, playing at 7 p.m. CST. The soccer team will be playing at Echles Field, while the volleyball match will be held at the Elma Roane Field House.
