Ole Miss Rifle Team Completes First Action Of Spring Season

MURRAY, Ky. - The Ole Miss rifle team completed its first action of the spring season with competition at the UT-Martin Invitational and the Withrow Invitational over the weekend.
Ole Miss opened the spring at the UT-Martin Invitational on Friday firing a 4399 in smallbore. Freshman Shanda Duval led the Rebels in the smallbore with a score of 1122. Following right behind her was senior Misty Ballard who fired an 1119. Megan Roberts shot a 1086, while Maranda Stockton fired a 1072.
In the second competition of the weekend, the Rebels improved upon their scores from the previous day at the Withrow Invitational. In air rifle, the Rebels notched a total score of 1487 behind the sharp shooting of Duval. The freshman recorded a 379 to lead the team. Ballard followed with a 373 while Kristin Parker scored a 369 and Roberts fired a 366. Maranda Stockton shot a 363 as an individual.
Duval paced the Rebels in the smallbore competition on the day as she fired an 1127. Ballard again was right on her heels with an 1124, while Roberts and Parker fired an 1110 and a 1069 respectively. Stockton fired a 1099 as an individual. The Rebels recorded a score of 4430 in smallbore for the event.
