Hartman, Alayli Advance At ITA Futures Qualifier

ARLINGTON, Texas - Victories by Ole Miss' Alex Hartman and Karim Alayli highlighted a rainy day at the ITA Futures Qualifier in Arlington, Texas. Play was suspended Friday afternoon due to weather.
Hartman, a senior from Klippan, Sweden, defeated Mark Arrowsmith (USA), 6-2, 6-7, 6-3. Freshman Karim Alayli, from Saiden, Lebanon, dominated Collin Hart (USA), 6-2, 6-1. Three other Ole Miss-related matches were postponed due to the weather. Catalin Gard and David Donaldson's match was halted after the first set, which Gard won, 6-1. Patrick Chucri was serving at 3-4 in the first set to Robert Gallman (USA) while Junior Paul Ciorascu was serving at 3-3 in the first set against Sanjin Sadovich of Canada before play was stopped.
The tournament, hosted by the Arlington Tennis Center, is not an NCAA sponsored event As a result, none of the matches will go towards the Rebels' individual rankings.
Also appearing in the qualifying draw is Ole Miss assistant head coach Jeff Clark. In his first round match, Clark defeated Damon Gillette of the United States, 6-0, 6-1.
