Radu, Tomatis Reach Doubles Finals At ITA Southern Regionals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Lady Rebel netters Mira Radu and Virginia Tomatis used two wins on Sunday to advance to the doubles championship round at the ITA Southern Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The winner of tomorrow's final will advance to the National Indoor Championships in Dallas, Texas.
In the quarterfinals, Radu and Tomatis defeated Igna de Villiers and Alex Smith of Miami, 8-4. Radu and Tomatis, seeded fifth, would face yet another Miami pair in the semifinals in Melissa Applebaum and Sara Robbins. The Ole Miss duo would win 8-5.
Radu and Tomatis will square off tomorrow at 11 p.m. against second-seeded Alexis Gordon and Julia Scaringe of Florida. All consolation matches in the event were cancelled due to previous weather circumstances during the weekend.
