Rebel Netters To Play In ITA All-American Championships

OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. to compete in the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships Oct. 4-13. The weeklong event, held at Champions Club, will feature over 250 collegiate competitors who, depending upon their ranking, will start competition in the prequalifying, qualifying, or main draw.
Representing Ole Miss in the singles prequalifying round will be senior Patrick Chucri, redshirt freshman David Donaldson, and freshman Karim Alayli. The draw will consist of 256 players and will begin play on Friday, Oct. 4.
Catalin Gard, ranked 67th in ITA Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis rankings, and 69th ranked Paul Ciorascu will begin play in the singles qualifying draw on Tuesday, Oct. 8. They will be among 64 players competing for the 16 empty spots in the main draw.
With his national ranking of no. 19, Rebel senior Alex Hartman earned a spot in the singles main draw, which runs Oct. 10-13. The draw will contain 64 players, with first round losers competing in a consolation bracket. With six of his players competing in the overall event, Rebel head coach Billy Chadwick is looking forward to the competition.
"We are really excited about the upcoming week," said Chadwick. "This is basically the biggest tournament of the fall, pitting our players against the best in the country."
