Rebels Drop Tough Road Meet To Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Ole Miss rifle team dropped a tough road match to Kentucky over the weekend, despite some solid shooting efforts from several shooter as the Cats downed the Rebels by an aggregate score of 6,145-6,078.
"We competed hard against a quality team this weekend," said head coach Valerie Boothe. "We continue to put up some solid scores as individuals, but aren't quite putting it together as a team like we were at the beginning of the season. Overall I am proud of the way this squad is competing every time they set foot on the floor."
Ole Miss' freshman Megan Sandage fired a personal best in the smallbore, three shy of the school record for an individual, when she fired an 1157 over the weekend. The Sutter, Calif., native turned in a score of 381 in air rifle to lead the team in scoring overall with a 1538.
Sophomore Shanda Duval fired a score of 1145 in smallbore and a 383 in air rifle, while junior Kirstin Parker fired a personal best smallbore score of 1134 and a 375 in smallbore for the event.
Sophomore Megan Roberts competed in smallbore for the Rebels' scoring squad, tallying an 1121 in the event, while freshman Samantha Leach fired in the air rifle portion of competition with a 382 for the day.
Competing as individuals for the Rebels were Laura Gavin and Maranda Stockton. Gavin fired an 1121 in smallbore and a 380 in air rifle, while Stockton turned in a score of 370 in air rifle and an 1100 in smallbore.
