LSU HEAD COACH GEORGE FOTOPOULOS
Today's result (a 1-0 LSU win) doesn't take anything away from Auburn. Auburn is a great team and well-deserving of being conference champions.

They missed the penalty kick early, which was a turning point for us. We struggled marking Sarah Steinmann in the first half. She is deserving of her SEC Player of the Year honor. We had a mismatch with her in the first half, and I was a little concerned with that.

Going into halftime with the score 0-0, I was confident that the game was playing out the way we wanted it. The biggest difference in today's game was the play of our goalkeeper, Robyn DesOrmeaux. She stopped two one-on-ones in the first half, and came up with some All-American type saves in the second half.

You can't beat a team like Auburn without an all-out team effort, and that's what we got today.

(On containing Steinmann)
It's very tough. Anytime you can mark a forward of that caliber and frustrate her, it gives you confidence and takes hers away. In the second half, she wasn't as dangerous as the first half, and I attribute a part of that to her missed chances in the first half. At halftime, I challenged Ashley Mitnick to defend her, and she did a better job in the second half of shutting Steinmann down.

AUBURN HEAD COACH KAREN RICHTER
It's one of those things where you don't finish your chances when you get the opportunity. You have to give LSU credit though. They stuck to their game plan. We are just very disappointed that we didn't finish chances that we had.
