Box Score

FLORIDA HEAD COACH BECKY BURLEIGH
We were excited to play South Carolina, especially since it was a loss for us earlier this season. We wanted to get a little redemption, and by winning today's game - which was a must-win for us - we got it. We played better in the second half in terms of our rhythm, and that second goal made us feel comfortable. When they scored their goal late, it put the pressure on us again. We were able to handle that pressure.

(On the physical play in the match)
It was pretty physical out there. It wasn't as physical the last time we played South Carolina. This time they came right out after us from the beginning. It was physical, and I'm not sure who that favored.

(On team's intensity in today's match)
If we come out and play hard, we can play with anybody in the country. When we don't come with intensity, that's when we give up easy goals. I give credit to our seniors and captains for getting everyone ready to play. The team knows there is no tomorrow if we don't win today.

SOUTH CAROLINA HEAD COACH SHELLEY SMITH
We were not disappointed with our effort today. We have a good group of seniors that have led this team all season. We played hard for 90 minutes. We gave up a goal early, but we battled hard when we were down 1-0 and 2-0. That showed a lot of pride, and that's what we've had all year.

We were very happy to play a team like Florida in the first round even though we were on the losing end. They are a good team and are very athletic. They did what they needed to do to get the ball in the net.

(Difference between this match and the last meeting, a 1-0 SC overtime win)
We gave up the early goal, and that was something we knew would cost us coming into the game. We have a deep team and that has been our strength, and Florida has had some injuries. We wanted to outlast them in the first half, and hopefully get a goal and go from there. But, giving up that first goal really hurt us. When we played them the first time, we didn't break down and give up a goal. Then, we were able to take advantage of our opportunity in overtime.
