OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Justin Reed scored 15 points and had seven rebounds as Mississippi beat Samford 57-49 on Tuesday.
Ole Miss (9-2) extended its home winning streak to 20 by shaking off Samford (4-7), which kept the score close until the end.
Reed was 4-for-7 from the field and 7-for-12 from the free throw line.
Emmanuel Wade added 10 points for the Rebels.
Ole Miss made just 2-for-12 three-point attempts. The Rebels shot 42 percent from the field.
Tyson Dorsey scored 15 and Eddie Harper had 14 for Samford. The team shot 47 percent from the field but just 50 percent from the free throw line.
Samford pulled within three points with just over two minutes to play, but then turned over the ball three times and missed three shots from the field. Ole Miss sealed the win by hitting six free throws.
Samford went on a 13-1 run midway through the first half to take a surprising 20-16 lead with 5:45 left in the first half. By halftime, Ole Miss had retaken the lead 29-14. The Rebels would never trail after that.
