Ole Miss Basketball Banquet Set For April 9

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel basketball team will hold its annual postseason awards banquet Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in the Paul B. Johnson Commons ballroom. Tickets are $15 each and can only be bought in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets by April 5. Bryan Foods and Abbeville Catfish and Steaks are catering the banquet.
Tickets for the banquet can be purchased by calling Whitman Smith, president of the Ole Miss Tip-off Club, at 662-915-5177 or 662-915-1185.
"We had another outstanding season," said Ole Miss head coach Rod Barnes. "The players, coaches and staff worked hard to make this year a successful one, and I would encourage our fans to attend the banquet to show their appreciation for the basketball program. It will also be a time for our players to thank the fans for their tremendous support throughout the season."
The Rebels finished the 2001-02 campaign with a 20-11 overall record and a 9-7 Southeastern Conference mark. Ole Miss received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and fell to UCLA in the first round. The winning season and postseason berth were the program's sixth straight. Ole Miss and Kentucky are the only two SEC schools to have a winning record and earn a postseason bid each of the last six years.
