Women's Tennis To Host Arkansas/LSU This Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team will conclude the home portion of its schedule this weekend with a pair of matches against SEC Western Division rivals Arkansas and LSU as part of Red/Blue Weekend Festivities. Both matches will be played at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
Ole Miss (8-9, 1-7), ranked No. 30 in this week's Omni Hotels Collegiate Rankings, is coming off a tough road trip last weekend in which they dropped two matches to No. 2 Georgia and No. 10 Tennessee. The Lady Rebels narrowly lost to Georgia, 4-3. In that match, Ole Miss took down Georgia's top three players, all ranked in the top 50, including Mira Radu's win over eighth-ranked Agata Cioroch.
The Lady Rebels welcome Arkansas Friday at 2 p.m. Arkansas comes into the match with a 6-12 overall record, 0-8 in the SEC. The Lady'Backs are coming off a 7-0 loss to Kentucky and a 6-1 defeat to Vanderbilt last weekend. Senior Adriana Lopez leads Arkansas. She upset the nation's seventh-ranked player Sarah Riske, in the loss to Vanderbilt.
Ole Miss lost a narrow 4-3 match to Arkansas last year in Oxford but leads the overall series 14-5. Since 1990, the Lady Rebels are 12-2 versus the Lady'Backs.
Sunday, the Lady Rebels will host LSU at 1 p.m. LSU upset then No. 13 Kentucky 4-3 on Monday for its first SEC win of the season. The Lady Tigers are led by Bruna Colosio, the SEC Player of the Week, and Rocio Fantilli.
The Lady Rebels are 12-0 against LSU during the regular season, since 1990. Ole Miss defeated the Lady Tigers last year in Oxford and then again in the first round of the NCAA Championships in Palo Alto, Calif.
Prior to the start of Sunday's match, the Lady Rebels will honor their two seniors, Camilla Gould and Alesya Ignatieva. Both began their careers in 1999 and helped lead Ole Miss to the SEC Tournament Championship title and the NCAA Elite Eight.
