SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Karen Hall set up Kelly Renie with the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to help Ole Miss pull out a 4-3 victory Friday night on the road. The Rebels remain undefeated on the season at 6-0-1.
Hall, a sophomore from Southlake, Texas, came off the bench to register her best game as a Rebel. Playing forward, Hall notched her first career multiple-goal match, netting a pair of scores in addition to assisting on the game-winner.
"Karen Hall was big time," said UM head coach Steve Holeman. "She played phenomenal. She was composed, distributed and was extremely creative for us. She made everything happen for us up top."
The Bears (3-4) struck first with Mary Litvan providing an early SMS lead in the 15th minute. At 21:21, Anna Sanders tied the game for the Rebels, with Hillary Beckman picking up the assist.
The Ole Miss offense continued three minutes later with Hall picking up her first score off passing from Lindley Beckman. Hall added her second goal in the 49th minute to provide Ole Miss a comfortable 3-1 advantage.
However, Southwest would mount a late comeback. The Rebels limited the Bears to only two shots in the second half but both went for goals - the first by Sarah Guenther at 79:23 and the second by Danielle Morris at 83:02 to tie the game up inside the final six minutes.
Renie's go-ahead goal was her team-high ninth of the season and 22nd total point. The Rebels outshot the Bears 18-7 on the night.
Ole Miss wraps up a four-game road swing Sunday at Missouri. Game time is set for 1 p.m. CST at Audrey J. Walton Complex in Columbia.
