Rifle Drops First Tri-Match To Tennessee Tech, Xavier

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss rifle squad dropped a tough tri-match meet on the road this weekend, falling to Tennessee Tech and Xavier with a score of 1512 in air rifle and a 4503 in smallbore.
"We did ok for ourselves this weekend, but there is no question that we can do better as a team," said head coach Valeriw Boothe. "We took a young squad with us to this meet and they handled the pressure well as a whole."
Mara Polonsky continued her hot shooting, leading the way for the Rebels in air rifle with her score of 384. The freshman recorded an 1113 in smallbore for the event.
Samantha Leach led the way for Ole Miss on the smallbore side of the competition, firing a score of 1137 to go along with her air rifle score of 370.
Megan Sandage continued to turn in solid performances, firing a 382 in air rifle and an 1122 in smallbore, while Memphis native Jennifer Lorenzen rounded out the scoring with a 376 in air rifle and an 1131 in smallbore.
Jessica McClain and Natasha Phillips competed as individuals at the meet. McClain scored a 367 in air rifle and a 1070 in smallbore. Phillips turned in a score of 329 in air rifle, but did not compete in smallbore.
