Rebel Netters Fail To Advance To Qualifying At All-American

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Sophomore Karim Alayli and freshman Fredrik Aarum of the Ole Miss men's tennis team won two matches in the prequalifying at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships this weekend at the Champions Club, before bowing out in the third round.
Alayli downed Dennis Andrade of Texas-San Antonio 6-1, 6-2 in the first round and then rallied to defeat Ian Kawas of Marquette 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the second round. He lost to Arkansas' Nick Price 6-1, 6-1 in the third round.
Aarum, who reached the semifinals at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships two weekends ago, cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Alban Renard of Illinois State in the first round. In the second round, Aarum downed Richard Dasek of BYU 6-2, 6-3, before falling to Jacopo Tezza of TCU 6-2, 1-6, 6-0 in the third round.
Senior Claes Lindholm was moved up into the qualifying tournament and will begin competition Monday. Senior Paul Ciorascu and junior Catalin Gard are already in the main draw, which begins Thursday.
