CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Ole Miss men's tennis player Claes Lindholm advanced to the second round in qualifying singles at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships Tuesday at the Champions Club. He also teamed with fellow senior Paul Ciorascu to reach the second round in the doubles qualifying.
Lindholm, who was bumped up to the qualifying tournament this weekend, defeated Dustin Taylor of Tulsa 6-0, 7-5 in the first round. He will meet Federico Ueltschi of Montana State in the second round Wednesday.
In the doubles, Lindholm and Ciorascu dominated Evgheni Corduneau and Amanjot Singh of Louisiana-Lafayette 8-2 in the first round. The pair will face Middle Tennessee's Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn in the second round.
If Lindholm can win two matches on Wednesday, he will become the third Rebel to make the main draw in singles. Ciorascu and sophomore Catalin Gard were automatic selections to the main draw, which begins on Thursday.
