CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - It was a disappointing day Thursday, for the Ole Miss men's tennis team at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships as both Paul Ciorascu and Catalin Gard were eliminated in main draw singles.

Ciorascu dropped his opening round match to Johan Berg of Southern California in three sets. The senior from Boras, Sweden, won the first set 6-1, but lost the second and third sets 6-3, 6-1. Ranked No. 18 in the nation, Ciorascu will face Conor Niland of California in consolation play Friday, still in search of his first win of the season for the Rebels.

Gard, ranked No. 9 in the nation, defeated qualifier Federico Ueltschi of Montana State 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1 in the first round. In his second round match against Virginia's Doug Stewart, Gard lost a tough first set 7-6(5) and then had to retire due to injury.

Ciorascu and Claes Lindholm's doubles match against the top team in the nation, Richard and William Barker (Rice), was postponed to Friday due to rain.
