ATHENS, Ga. - Members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team had a successful weekend at the Bulldog Scramble hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. This weekend concluded the fall season for the Rebels.

Senior All-SEC performer Claes Lindholm posted a 3-0 record in singles, beating three nationally-ranked players. On Friday, he defeated Florida's Vladimir Obradovic 6-3, 7-5 and then on Saturday, Lindholm downed Matias Ormaza of Georgia 6-4, 6-3. On the final day, Lindholm came back to beat Furman's John Chesworth 1-6, 6-1, 6-1. Lindholm finished the fall 8-3.

Junior Karim Alayli went 2-1 in the tournament, posting back-to-back wins after losing on Friday. Florida's Stefan Tell defeated Alayli 6-7(4), 6-4, 3-1, ret., on Friday. Alayli bounced back to post a 6-4, 6-1 win over Georgia's Jason Varela on Saturday. Sunday, Alayli cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win against Ben Pauluhn of Furman. Alayli completed the fall at 5-4.

Freshman Fredrik Aarum posted a 1-2 record in the Bulldog Scramble. He lost to Chris Brandi of Florida 6-3, 6-2 and then dropped a tough 6-3, 7-5 match to Georgia's Strahinja Bobusic on Saturday. Aarum rebounded to down Furman's Kevin Lackey 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday. Aarum ended his first fall with the Rebels an impressive 9-5.

In doubles, Lindholm and Aarum went 1-1 in the tournament. On Friday, they lost to Obradovic and Trey Johnson of Florida, 8-4. Saturday, the Reb duo defeated Georgia's Bobusic and Ormaza 8-4.

"This was a great way to close out the fall," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "The guys played very well throughout the entire weekend. Karim is showing the significant improvements he has made. He lost to Jason Varela last year in three sets, and this time he beat him in straight sets. Claes played great in defeating three nationally-ranked players. Our success this fall gives us excellent momentum for the spring and should help us achieve a preseason top 10 national ranking for the 10th year in a row."

The Rebels open the spring campaign at the SEC Indoor Championships Jan. 15-19.
