Ole Miss Knocks Off Nicholls State, 79-46

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Tommie Eddie scored 22 points as Mississippi defeated Nicholls State 79-46 on Sunday.
The Rebels' center, who had a game-high 10 rebounds, scored the Rebels' first eight points and 13 of the first 23 as Ole Miss jumped to a 23-10 lead in the first nine minutes.
While Eddie was scoring inside, Aaron Harper was hitting from the outside. Harper was 3-for-5 from the 3-point line and finished with 19 points for Ole Miss (6-3).
Nicholls State (5-5) was led by Markeith Brown, who had 11 points.
Ole Miss never trailed in the contest and led by 30 or more points for the final 11:30.
The Rebels held Nicholls State to 25.5 percent shooting for the game. The Colonels were shut down in the second half, shooting just 5-for-27 from the floor and 9-for-18 from the free throw line.
Justin Reed, the Rebels' leading scorer, didn't start. Reed missed the last four practices because of a sickness. He finished with 8 points.
Ole Miss shot 29-for-62 for the game.
The Rebels stole the ball from the Colonels 15 times, including four steals by Harper.
Ole Miss outrebounded Nicholls State 45-42.
Ole Miss led at halftime 45-26.
