OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss' Kelly Renie has been named to the Soccer Buzz Freshman All-America first team. Renie was also picked on the Buzz All-Central Region second team, while Rebel teammate Kristal Menard was honored on the first team.

That duo had already been chosen All-Region second team by the NSCAA in addition to the All-SEC first team.

Renie is the first Ole Miss soccer player to claim Freshman All-America accolades and was the only SEC player on the Buzz first team. A forward from Carmel, Ind., Renie was the 2002 SEC Freshman of the Year and one of the nation's premier goal-scorers, ranking top 12 in Division I in goals per game. She recorded the game-winner in nine of the 13 UM victories, and finished with 18 goals, the second-highest single-season total in school history.

A sophomore midfielder from Anchorage, Ky., Menard moved from forward to the midfield in 2002 and quickly became a key component in the Ole Miss attack. She recorded a goal and an assist in the Rebels' first road victory at Alabama, and she also netted the game-winner against Mississippi State. Menard totaled a team-high six assists and finished second in total points in league games.

Ole Miss, who is coming off its best season and first NCAA Tournament berth in 2002, boasts 13 All-Region selections in the program's eight-year history.
