BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss soccer players Kristin Chapman and Amy Sample have been named All-Southeastern Conference Honorable Mention, as announced by the league office.

Chapman, who wrapped her Rebel career in the fall, claims All-SEC accolades for the third straight year, having earned second team honors in 2000 and first team last year. The senior defender from Vicksburg, Miss., started all 20 games for Ole Miss in the fall, recording seven total points. Chapman was also selected to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VI second team.

Sample earns All-SEC recognition for the first time. A junior midfielder from Crestwood, Ky., Sample tied for third on the team in goals (3) and points (10), and was fourth in the SEC in league_game assists (3). She also connected on her fourth career game-winner in an overtime win over Missouri.

Other Rebels to be picked All-SEC for 2002 include sophomore Kristal Menard and freshman Kelly Renie, who were both chosen to the first team.

The Rebels are coming off their most successful season, finishing it off with a first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. With a 13-5-2 record, Ole Miss registered its best single-season winning percentage (.700) and ranked top three in the SEC overall standings for the first time.
