OXFORD, Miss. - After a productive season as a volunteer assistant for the Ole Miss soccer team, Erin Aubry has been promoted to assistant coach, as announced Monday by Rebel head coach Steve Holeman.

This marks Aubry's second full-time coaching stint in the Southeastern Conference, having served as an assistant for Auburn during the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

In her first season with the Rebel staff a year ago, Aubry aided Ole Miss in achieving its first NCAA Tournament berth and its finest season as a program with a 13-5-2 record. The Rebels finished top three in the SEC overall standings and rose as high as 26th in the national polls - both new team milestones.

"We have a huge advantage since Erin served as a volunteer assistant last year and did a tremendous job," Holeman said. "She has already established a great relationship with the players and staff, and it makes for an easy transition. Also with her experience at Auburn, she brings a lot to this program."

Aubry's duties will include helping with on-the-field coaching, assisting in recruiting and handling many of the team's administrative responsibilities, such as travel, budget and equipment.

"I love this team and this staff," Aubry said. "I could not have found a better coaching opportunity. I'm excited not only because of the team's huge potential for continued success, but also because of the personal growth this allows me as a coach."

A native of Perrysburg, Ohio, Aubry was a midfielder for a successful Northwestern program that made two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a 1998 "Sweet Sixteen" showing during her career. In her time with the Wildcats, Aubry played in 55 games, starting 31 and netting eight goals, including a pair of game-winners. The former two-time NSCAA High School All-American finished her collegiate career with 25 total points and earned the coach's award for outstanding leadership upon completion of the 1998 season.

In addition to her time at Auburn, Aubry has also generated a great deal of coaching experience at the club level and in the Olympic Development Program. She has been a head coach for the Greater Toledo Futbol Club under-17 team, and was also a coach in training for the Region II ODP in DeKalb, Ill., during the summers of 1996 and 1998. Her club coaching also includes stints as the head coach of the Toledo Blaze under-16 team, and assistant coach of the U-16, U-12 and U-11 girls teams for the Greater Toledo Futbol Club.

Aubry has also previously served as camp director for the Northwestern University Youth Girls Soccer Camp, which attracted nearly 300 campers in two weeks.

Aubry, 26, graduated from Northwestern in December 1998 with a B.A. in Communication Studies, with a concentration in History. She has earned a USSF "C" license and an NSCAA National Diploma.
