Ole Miss Basketball Announces Changes To 2003-04 Schedule

OXFORD, Miss. - The Rebel basketball schedule went through some minor changes with three games moving to different dates, the Ole Miss athletics department announced Thursday. The major move came with the Ole Miss-Memphis contest that was moved to Dec. 6. The game, which will be televised by ESPN2, is set for a 5:00 p.m. (CT) start.
As a result of the Memphis game change, the East Carolina and Nicholls State contests were also affected. The Rebel-Pirate match-up, which was originally scheduled for Dec. 6, is now on Jan. 3. The Nicholls State game, which was slated for Jan. 3, is now scheduled for Dec. 28. The East Carolina and Nicholls State contests are both set for 2:00 p.m. (CT) tips.
"Moving the Memphis game gives us another opportunity to play on television and show off our program and the great fans we have to the country," said Ole Miss head coach Rod Barnes, who enters his sixth season as the Rebels' mentor in 2003-04. "We want to thank East Carolina and Nicholls State for working with us on these scheduling changes.
"Many schools across the country were having some kind of scheduling difficulties this year, and we were no different from the rest. Our schedule is now set, and we are looking forward to the start of the season."
The Rebels open regular-season action Nov. 21 against Arkansas State at 7:00 p.m. (CT). Prior to the season opener, Ole Miss will host two exhibitions against Southeastern All-Stars Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m. (CT) and Carson Newman College Nov. 15 at 2:00 p.m. (CT).
