Rebels Turn In Solid Performance At Tiger Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss rifle team got off to a solid start on Thursday, firing a team score of 1520 at the Tiger Invitational to open the season. The tournament, which is being shot over two weekends and hosted by Memphis, will release the final standings next weekend.
Megan Sandage and Mara Polonsky led the way for Ole Miss as both shooters recorded scores of 383 to pace the squad.
Shanda Duval scored a 380, while Laura Gavin notched a 374 to round out the scoring for the Rebels. Competing as individuals, freshhman Jennifer Lorenzen fired a 378, while freshman Jessica McClain turned in a score of 382.
"We had a solid performance to open our season," said head coach Valerie Boothe. "We hit right about where I wanted us to in our first competition, and I couldn't be more excited. We've got more work to do, and we can start it when we open at home with our Invitational on Friday."
The Rebels will host the Ole Miss Invitational beginning Friday, September 26 on campus at the University of Mississippi. The tournament will be shot over two weekends, concluding October 4-5. Final standings will be announced after all teams have competed.
