OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Justin Reed had a career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds Saturday and Mississippi got its second consecutive Southeastern Conference victory, defeating Alabama 71-60.
Aaron Harper added 17 points for the Rebels (10-6, 2-3 SEC), who have won seven straight home games against Alabama (11-5, 3-2).
Harper tied the school record for career three-point shots with 249 and hit 5-of-10 against the Crimson Tide. Reed recorded his third double-double this season and his first in SEC play.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Alabama. The Tide was playing without leading scorer Earnest Shelton. Shelton, who is averaging 15.5 points per game, is out indefinitely with a right knee sprain.
The Tide struggled without him, as Ole Miss built an early 11-point lead and maintained it throughout the contest.
Antoine Pettway had 25 points, six rebounds and three assists for Alabama. Kennedy Winston had 15 points and Demetrius Smith had 12, but the remainder of the team was 3-of-15 from the field and turned the ball over 18 times.
Ole Miss lead 31-20 at the half.
Pettway opened the game with a jumper for the only lead Alabama enjoyed.
Ole Miss then went on a 15-2 run with Harper hitting consecutive three-point shots to highlight. The run was capped by a three-point play by Reed for a 15-4 lead with 14:01 left in the first half.
