Men's Tennis To Host Fall Classic At Tunica

OXFORD, Miss. - Members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team will be competing this weekend in separate tournaments in Baton Rouge, La., and Tunica.

Seniors Catalin Gard and Karim Alayli will be competing in the qualifying for the USTA Future in Baton Rouge, La. Gard, the nation's No. 1 ranked player, recently won the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships in Chattanooga.

Ole Miss is hosting the first annual Ole Miss fall classic at the Tunica National Golf and Tennis Center and hopes to make it an annual event with the Lady Rebels, combining some of the top men's and women's teams.

"Tunica National Golf and Tennis Center was recently voted as one of four outstanding private facilities by the USTA," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "Our goal is to develop one of the top collegiate tournaments in the nation and play it every September."

Sophomores Frederik Aarum and Eric Claesson and junior Juan Pablo Di Cesare will be competing for the Rebels in the round robin format. Play begins Friday and concludes Sunday.
