Rebel Netters Lose Close Matches At Bulldog Scramble

ATHENS, Ga. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team lost four three-set matches after winning the first set, in singles on day one of the Bulldog Scramble at the Dan Magill Complex, Friday. Play in the round robin tournament will continue Saturday with singles and doubles.
Junior Juan Pablo Di Cesare won his first set against South Carolina's Jamie Cuellar, 6-4. The Gamecock edged Di Cesare in the second set, 7-6 to force a deciding set, which he claimed 6-3 for the win.
Sophomore Eric Claesson lost to Florida's top newcomer, Nestor Briceno in three close sets. Claesson won the first set 7-6, but Briceno came back to take the second and third sets, 6-1, 6-4 respectively.
Rebel sophomore Frederik Aarum won his opening set against Gator Marty Stiegwardt, 6-4. He had chances to win the second set, but Stiegwardt won in a tiebreaker, 7-6 and then took the final set 6-3.
Francisco Suro of Georgia defeated Rebel junior David Donaldson, 6-7, 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, Claesson and Di Cesare dropped an 8-5 decision to Florida's Stiegwardt and Tell. Aarum and freshman Bram ten Berge lost to Matias Ormaza and Ricardo Gonzalez of Georgia, 8-6.

Doubles - Stiegwardt/Tell (UF) def. Claesson/Di Cesare (OM) 8-5; Ormaza/Gonzalez (UGA) def. Aarum/ten Berge (OM) 8-6.
