OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Londrick Nolen and Todd Abernethy each scored 13 points and Mississippi won its seventh straight, defeating Southeastern Louisiana 64-48 on Friday afternoon.
Abernethy broke out of a mini-slump, scoring 11 consecutive points with three straight 3-pointers to spark a game-clinching 14-2 run during the final eight minutes for the Rebels (9-4).
Rickey Woods had 18 points and Terry Bryant had 16 for Southeastern Louisiana (7-5), which shot 56 percent (15-of-27) from the field but couldn't overcome 22 turnovers and a huge rebounding disadvantage.
Ole Miss outrebounded the Lions 34-20.
The Rebels led 28-21 at halftime after a 13-3 run midway through the half was keyed by Nolen's 8 points.
Southeastern Louisiana cut it to 42-39 with 8:06 remaining when Woods' layup capped a 9-0 run. But behind Abernethy's suddenly hot hand, the Rebels took command down the stretch.
Abernethy was 1-of-7 from the field before leading the game-deciding run.
Ole Miss finished 21-of-54 (39 percent) from the field.
It was a sloppy way for both teams to end 2004; the game featured a total 49 personal fouls.
