Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Match To South Carolina

OXFORD, Miss. - The 63rd-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision to 33rd-ranked South Carolina Friday evening at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. With the loss, the Lady Rebels fall to 10-9 overall and 2-7 in the SEC, while South Carolina improves to 11-7 and 4-5 in conference play.
Ole Miss fell behind 1-0 after losing the doubles point. The Lady Rebel tandem of Chloe Carlotti and Virginia Tomatis defeated Danielle Wiggins and Laura Ganzer, 9-7, at the top spot to improve to 13-4. South Carolina won 8-3 at No. 3 and 8-5 at No. 2.
In singles, the Gamecocks jumped out to early leads in five of the six courts and never let up. The lone winner for the Lady Rebels was Tomatis, who defeated USC's Fallon Koon at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
The Lady Rebels will host No. 2 ranked Florida Sunday at 1 p.m,. to close out the home schedule. It will be senior day, and the team will honor seniors Audra Adams, Florencia Basile, Karem Harboe and Sabrina Peppl.
