OXFORD, Miss. - Londrick Nolen, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound forward from Memphis, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Ole Miss beginning in the fall of 2004, as announced Tuesday by Rebel head coach Rod Barnes. Nolen, a rising junior, spent the past two seasons at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis.

As a sophomore in 2003-04, Nolen earned All-TJCCAA honors and led the Saluqis in scoring (16.9 average), assists (4.6), and three-point percentage (.388), and was second on the team in rebounding (7.1), blocked shots (37), and steals (50). In Southwest's first-round win over Motlow State in the TJCCAA/Region VII Tournament, Nolen poured in a game-high 26 points and topped the team with 13 rebounds and seven assists.

Nolen played his prep basketball at Raleigh-Egypt High School in Memphis. As a senior, he helped the Pharoahs post a 33-6 record, win the District 15AAA championship, and compete in the Class AAA state tournament.

"We're excited about the signing of Londrick," Barnes said. "He is a very versatile wing player who we feel can make an immediate impact on the perimeter. Londrick comes from two excellent programs with outstanding coaches, Verties Sails (Southwest) and Jimmy Adams (Raleigh-Egypt).

"After evaluating our team following the season, our coaching staff felt we needed to find someone who could help us on both ends of the floor. Londrick brings that to our team."

Nolen is the Rebels' second signee of the offseason, joining Dwayne Curtis who transferred from Auburn in May. Curtis, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound center, can start practicing with the team in the fall but is ineligible for the 2004-05 season. He may begin playing in the 2005-06 campaign with three years of eligibility remaining.
