CARSON, Calif. - Ole Miss will be represented on one of youth soccer's greatest stages this weekend. The ODP under-19 region teams will be competing at the national camp Friday through Sunday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., and the south team boasts Rebel head coach Steve Holeman as an assistant and freshman midfielder Chrissy Strini in the lineup.

The south, or Region III, squad features the top 16 players from the 12 southern states. The players from the various region teams are competing this weekend for roster spots on the ODP national team pool.

The south unit faces off with the west team Friday, the midwest team Saturday and the northeast team Sunday.

Holeman, who has directed Ole Miss to the NCAA Tournament two of the last three years, has been involved in the Region III program since 1996 and is in his third year as an assistant coach. Holeman served as Region III head coach at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 2001 and 2002, and guided the team to a gold medal finish in 2001.

Strini, a native of Cordova, Tenn., played in all 21 games with 13 starts in her rookie season in the fall. She tallied two goals and an assist, and netted the Rebels' first score in the 3-1 win over Georgia.

Strini was also a national camp participant in 2003.
