Erling Tveit Advances To ITA Southeast Regional Final Monday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Ole Miss men's tennis sophomore Erling Tveit will battle Middle Tennessee's Andreas Silejstrom Monday at 10 a.m., for the ITA Southeast Regional Singles title, and a berth in the ITA National Indoor Cha\mpionships in November.
Tveit, the No. 5 seed, defeated teammate Eric Claesson 7-5, 6-0 to advance to the finals, while Siljestrom used a 7-6 (2), 7-5 win over USF's Dirk Britzen, to earn his singles finals spot. This will be the first ever meeting between the two players.
In the first match of the day, Tveit beat Kentucky newcomer Bruno Agostinelli in three sets. After dropping the first set 6-3, Tveit downed Agostinelli, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals.
With his two wins on Sunday, Tveit improved to 8-2 on the year and reached his second singles final of the fall. He also made the finals at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational.
The results from Saturday's singles were incorrectly recorded. The results had Claesson, ranked No. 110 in the nation, losing to Miami's Josh Cohen, who is ranked No. 20, in the round of 16. However, Claesson actually came back to defeat Cohen in three sets to advance to the quarterfinals.
In his quarterfinal match Sunday, Claesson posted his second consecutive win over a ranked opponent, defeating Florida's 56th-ranked Chris Brandi, 7-5, 6-4, to reach the semifinal match against Tveit.
The Southeast is arguably the top tennis region in the country with four teams finishing the 2005 season ranked among the nation's top 10, including Ole Miss at No. 3. Eight teams from the region ended the year in the top 25. This weekend's field included 25 of the nation's top ranked singles players.
The ITA National Indoor Championships, the second college major, will be held Nov. 3-6 in Columbus, Ohio.
