OXFORD, Miss. - For the first time this season, Ole Miss (13-3, 7-1 SEC) is ranked in the top 25 in one of the four major polls for women's soccer. This week's Soccer America poll has Ole Miss at No. 23 in the nation.

The Rebels received votes for the first time last week in the Soccer Times poll. Spurred by a 1-0 victory over No. 11 Florida on Sunday, the Rebels received votes in both the Times poll and the Soccer Buzz poll, in addition to cracking the top 25 in Soccer America's rankings.

Ole Miss has faced four nationally-ranked opponents this season (Soccer Buzz ranks the top 30 teams in the nation), and the Rebels have a 3-1 record against them. They lost to No. 11 Florida State on Sept. 11, but defeated UCF, Georgia and Florida. The Rebels' lone SEC loss was to Tennessee, who is currently ranked as high as No. 17, but was not ranked at the time of the match.

In regional rankings, Ole Miss has its highest ranking of the year at fifth in the Central Region in the Soccer Buzz poll and seventh in the Central Region in the NSCAA poll.

The Rebels were last ranked nationally when they made it as high as No. 21 during the 2003 season.

Gill Adds Another Award

On Tuesday, sophomore forward/midfielder Amy Gill, who is the reigning SEC Offensive Player of the Week, was named to Top Drawer Soccer's national Team of the Week.

The Loveland, Ohio, product becomes the third Rebel this season to make a national team of the week, as freshman midfielder Jennifer Hance earned Soccer America Team of the Week honors in week two and junior defender Lyndsey Williams was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week in week seven.

Gill scored the game-winning goal against Florida with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to upend the Gators for the first time in Ole Miss history. She also capped a scoring flurry of three goals in the last 10 minutes of the South Carolina match to help the Rebels to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory.

Gill currently ranks third on the team with 10 points this season, including three goals and four assists.
