NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Ole Miss women's tennis sophomore Preethi Subramanian advanced to the finals of the Tom Boysen Draw at the June Stewart Invitational Saturday at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center.
Subramanian downed Vanderbilt newcomer Maggie Yahner 6-4, 6-3 in the second round. She will face Roxanne Clark of Arizona State Sunday morning for the title.
With the win, Subramanian improved to 5-3 this fall. In addition, this marks Subramanian's second tournament final appearance, as she made the finals of the Blue Draw at the Ole Miss Fall Classic in September.
In the Marshall Summar Singles Draw, senior Virginia Tomatis was seeking her second straight win over a nationally-ranked opponent, after defeating 37th-ranked Sabrina Capannola of Arizona State University on Friday. This time, however, Tomatis dropped a 6-0, 6-3 decision to 41st-ranked Taka Bertrand of the host school, Vanderbilt.
