Ole Miss Basketball Squads To Meet Fans Next Two Weekends

OXFORD, Miss. - Rebel fans will have an opportunity to meet the 2005-06 Ole Miss men's and women's basketball teams each of the next two weekends.
"Meet The Rebels" Day will be held Saturday in front of the Student Union prior to the Ole Miss-Citadel football game. The festivities will start at 10 a.m. CT and will run until 11:30 a.m. at the Student Union Plaza. Players and coaches from both teams will meet with fans, and 2005-06 posters and schedule cards will be given away.
The following weekend, fans can enjoy an all-access look at Ole Miss basketball, as the two teams will open preseason practice with the "Rebel Roundup", Friday night, Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. at Tad Smith Coliseum. Rod Barnes' Rebels and Carol Ross' Lady Rebels will be in action, and an autograph session will follow. The Rebel Chopper will be on hand, and raffle tickets will be sold to to win the motorcycle, which is to be given away at halftime of the Dec. 17 men's game against Memphis. Door prizes will also be handed out at the Rebel Roundup.
The Ole Miss women's squad plays its first exhibition game Nov. 10 against Athlete in Action, while the men's team hosts its first exhibition Nov. 11 versus Spring Hill College. Regular season openers for both squads are also in November. The men's season opens at the Jim Thorpe Classic Nov. 18-20 in Albuquerque, N.M., and the women's team tips off its campaign against Rice Nov. 18 in Tad Smith Coliseum.
