OXFORD, Miss. - Led by new center Dwayne Curtis, 10 Ole Miss players scored and three hit for double figures, as the Rebels knocked off Spring Hill College 91-70 in exhibition action Friday at Tad Smith Coliseum.
Curtis, a sophomore transfer from Auburn, posted 29 points, 18 rebounds and 3 steals in 23 minutes and shot 13-of-19 from the field. Sophomore Brandon Patterson dropped in 15 points, while junior transfer Clarence Sanders scored 11.
The Rebels never trailed in the contest and led by as much as 27. The Badgers pulled within one, 22-21, at the 10:00 mark of the first half, but Ole Miss followed with a 19-3 run and finished the period with a 50-32 halftime advantage.
The Rebels shot 48.7 percent on the night and outrebounded the Badgers 44-35. Junior Bam Doyne totaled 9 assists, 6 points, 4 boards and 3 steals, and freshman Trey Hampton was 4-of-5 for 8 points with 4 rebounds.
Krisner Green topped Spring Hill with 22 points and 5 rebounds, and Jeremy Price turned in 15 points and 8 boards.
Ole Miss begins the new campaign at the Jim Thorpe Classic, Nov. 18-20 at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M. The Rebels take on Southern Utah Friday in the season opener. The home opener is Nov. 26 against the Centenary.
Earlier in the day, Ole Miss announced the signing of Herbert Terry, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward from Indiana, to a national letter of intent. Terry joins Solomon Bozeman, a 6-foot-1, 165-pound guard, to complete the Rebels' signing class.
