Ole Miss Rifle Knocks Off N.C. State

Morgantown, W.Va. - The Ole Miss rifle team defeated its second Great America Rifle Conference foe in two days on Sunday, when the Rebels knocked off the N.C. State Wolfpack.
Ole Miss set a school record for team aggregate scoring with a total of 4651, which broke the previous mark of 4612 set during last season's GARC Championships.
The Rebels were led by senior Samantha Leach, who broke the school record in the smallbore set just one day earlier, with a 587. Sophomore Shannon Wilson once again led Ole Miss in the air rifle with a final score of 588, which fell just two points shy of the school record.
"It was a fantastic day for Ole Miss Rifle," said head coach Valerie Boothe, who is in her tenth year at Ole Miss. "We are shooting great right now, and it was a wonderful way to finish up the weekend."
Ole Miss bested N.C. State in both the air rifle (2326-2271) and smallbore (2325-2283) competitions. Rebels claimed the top six places in the air rifle and the top three in the smallbore.
Next up, Ole Miss hosts perennial rifle power Alaska-Fairbanks at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford, on November 19.
